Adding notes to an order

You can add internal notes to orders to record additional information, shipping instructions, reminders, and more. This guide covers how to add notes to an order you've received.

Tip: Try the Squarespace Commerce app to fulfill orders and add notes on your mobile device. Download: iOS, Android

Before you begin

  • Notes are private and only visible to the site owners, administrators, and contributors with billing privileges. They aren't included on printed orders or emails sent to customers.
  • Once a note is saved it can't be edited.

Step 1 - Go to the Orders panel

Depending on your plan:

  • In the Home Menu, click Commerce, and then click Orders.
  • In the Home Menu, click Orders.

You can also press the ? key while any panel is open and search orders.

Click an order to open the Order Summary window. You can also search by the customer's order #, email, or name in the Search box. When searching by order number, exclude the #.

Step 2 - Add a note

Click the Internal Notes tab and enter your text in the box. Then click Save.

Saved notes display the date, time, and the contributor who wrote the note.
